We finally made it to the snow with our ‘Surf Bus’! The excitement is next level! It’s been a dream of ours since building our camper bus six years ago. What seemed like a simple journey had so many speed bumps along the way that kept it from happening. Needless to say, we’re stoked to be here with our beloved bus 💛

It’s such a privilege to be able to adapt and grow with our bus as our lives evolve. We’ve had so many amazing adventures, created memories, and enjoyed countless special moments in it. Initially, our purpose was to chase waves and enjoy longer surf trips without waking our little ones at 5 am 😆 But after moving to our dream location, we took a moment to reassess our new “why.”We always knew the bus would remain a part of our lives, but our reasons for using it had shifted. Our girls, with their enthusiasm for rollerskating and skiing, inspired us to rethink its role. We envisioned the bus as a hub for surf, skate, and snow adventures.As a family, we collaborated to create a more personalised space for the girls. The L couch/bed setup was functional, but the kids wanted their own spaces. We’re thankful to our younger selves for adding fold-flat seats in the cabin, which allowed us to transform it into a cosy bedroom for our eldest, who’s nearly 13. We also adjusted the L couch drawers to form a wider bed for our younger one, who’s 10.The new setup is a dream for the kids, and Mum and Dad even got new linen. 😆Looking forward to more adventures in this next phase of the surf bus. ❤️

In 2018, we bought and fit-out a mini bus with a goal to chase waves and bring our young kids along for the ride.It’s still the best purchase we’ve ever made. It unlocked so much for us, including moving from the city to the coast and starting our own business here (@sternecollective )- both of which we never thought we’d do!To unlock great things, sometimes you have to take some risks, and for us, our surf bus was that leap of faith.Super thankful for this journey ✨

Never ever do we regret buying and converting our Toyota Coaster bus back in 2018. It took us 6 months of blood sweat and tears to convert, but it’s taken us on journeys we never thought we’d have, brought us closer together as a family and led us to places we never imagined… like moving to a completely new city!
